Code (IRC) and the International Building Code (IBC), operating across all Colorado counties with active
projects in Crested Butte and throughout Gunnison County. We build high-end custom homes,
multi-family residential developments, and commercial tenant improvements — and we do it in one of the
most demanding construction environments in the country.
Building at elevation in the Colorado mountains is a specialty. It is not the same as building on the Front
Range or in a suburban market with unlimited contractor access and predictable weather windows. The
snow loads that Crested Butte receives, the freeze-thaw cycles that destroy shortcuts, the OWTS and
septic requirements specific to Gunnison County, the permit process, the seasonal construction window,
the logistics of running multiple crews in a mountain resort community — these are not abstractions for
us. They are the conditions we have been building in for three decades.

Our services span the full construction process — excavation and site preparation, foundation and
concrete, structural framing, OWTS system installation, roofing, siding, decking, steel, and finish work.
We self-perform a significant portion of the work rather than subcontracting everything out, which means
we control quality at every phase rather than managing it from a distance.We are also at the front edge of a significant shift in construction technology. Our move into hemp-crete
and industrial hemp building products positions HYS to offer clients something genuinely new in the
Colorado mountain market — a building system with superior thermal performance, natural moisture
management, and a carbon footprint that goes in the right direction. This is not a trend we are chasing. It
is a building technology we have been studying seriously and are bringing to projects where it is the right
fit.
